Near Pride Rock, the Lion Guard struggles to put out a brush fire. Bunga volunteers to lead Kifaru to Lake Matope so that he arrives in time to participate in Tamasha, and Kifaru hesitantly accepts. During the festivities, Bunga constructs a giant snow ball for his adoptive uncle, Timon. The two groups engage in a fight, during which the Lion Guard manages to chase away all of Makucha's minions. After this, the friends encounter more and more animals taking Bunga's bad advice, and they're forced to rescue the poor beasts. The next day, Kion leads his Guard and the army of Pridelanders to attack Scar's army. Together, she and her mate Goigoi trick the aardwolves into trusting them. Later, Bunga is bragging about his immunity to Kion, who remains unconvinced. Though reluctant, the hawk agrees. In doing so, he knocks the baboons from their trees, and they charge into a herd of cape buffalo, inciting a stampede. Although Kion is capable of acknowledging his mistakes and learning from them as well, as well as the fact that he is not above apologizing or admitting when he is wrong, he can be prideful when pitted against his older sister, Kiara. Once there, Kion attempts to find Dogo among the jackal pups, and Reirei steps forward, introducing herself and Goigoi as Dogo's parents. Kion heeds the words of his parents and intelligently recognizes the signs of potential danger, this strong sense of responsibility is in part why Kion has such a sturdy head on his shoulders and is far less likely to jump into dangerous situations than his best friend, Bunga. Kion is the only member of the main royal family whose name doesn't end with A, but ends with a consonant (not including his paternal grandmother or great-uncle). No sooner has he revealed this when Mtoto overhears a crocodile heading to Pride Rock, and Ono spots Makuu en route to the Summit. With defeat eminent, Janja attempts to flee into the fire, but Scar rises up from the flames, demanding that Janja face his enemies instead of run like a coward. With the jackals gone, Kion apologizes for his mistake, and Simba gently reminds him that it had been he who had encouraged the rescue of the jackal pup. He is the son of Simba and Nala, and the brother of Kiara . Just as the hyenas are cornering Tamaa in the Outlands, the real Lion Guard arrives and chases the hyenas away from Tamaa and the herd of impalas. The Night Pride arrives, only for the Lion Guard to take over the shift and defeat the army. Kion and his friends meet Janna, who kindly welcome them to the Tree of Life. Once he realized this, Kion entrusts Fuli with the leadership of the guard until he heals. Both times he uses the roar. He is a character from the Disney Junior show called Lion Guard. They forgive him, and Makini gives him some tuliza for good measure. Though Janja attempts to lie his way out of trouble, Kion steps forward and uses the Roar of the Elders to banish him and his cronies back to the Outlands. Mtoto then demonstrates his great hearing to Lion and the Lion Guard and informs them that several important Pride Landers are heading toward Pride Rock. With some harsh insistence from Fuli, Bupu and his herd reluctantly follow after the Lion Guard until the group reaches the edge of the Flood Plains. Once safely back in the Pride Lands, the Lion Guard resolves to cool off at the water hole, and Kion gently reminds Fuli that she doesn't have to come. The Lion Guard then shares in a hearty laugh. Ono begs Shujaa for help, and the gorilla agrees to fight for the sake of Beshte. After the song, Kion describes how Askari, the first leader of the Lion Guard, had made peace with the elephants in order to keep the Circle of Life in balance. The gibbon explains that he could not have talked to them earlier, lest Mama Binturong's spies catch on to his activities. Kion is besieged by Kuchimba, a golden mole. Simba prompts the Lion Guard to relate Sokwe's message, to which Kion says, "Kuishi ni kucheka," as Bunga throws a snow ball over Simba's head. The rest of the Lion Guard arrives in time to chase Makucha's army away. His tail tuft matches his head tuft in color, being somewhat bushier than his father's, and his eye rims follow the usual pattern, with the top shade being darker than his main pelt, while the bottom shade is lighter than his main pelt. A miffed Kion reluctantly agrees to her demands, but makes her promise to stop stealing the possessions of the aardvarks. However, the team gets distracted and loses track of Kion, who gets prodded by the flamingos. Once fully trained, Badili is tested by the Lion Guard, who question him on what he will do if Mapigano challenges him. Just then, Ono spots another dust devil, and Kion leads the team to the site of the storm. Anga spots a patch of tuliza, and Bunga offers to fetch some for Kion. Mjomba retorts that they should never have driven the pack out to begin with, and Kion apologizes for the mistake, admitting that he had mistaken the aardwolves for hyenas. Kion helps train Badili to stand up for himself. Just then, Jasiri emerges from the steam vent and challenges Janja to take on both herself and the Lion Guard. means "Totally intense!" Just in time, Ono steps in to halt Kifaru, impressing the rest of the Lion Guard. Kion orders Janja and his clan to leave the Traveling Baboon Show alone. Ono overhears Janja's cackling and reports what he's heard to Kion, who suspects Scar of causing the trouble. Once on the island, Makini bounds off to gather tuliza for Kion. Trapped, the animals look to Bunga for wisdom, but the honey badger tells them to listen to Kion, who truly does know how to handle bad situations. Kion continually fails to jump on a log due to his impatience. Simba then begins the ceremony. He gathers the team together and attempts to show them the Roar of the Elders, but all that comes out is a squeak. In the midst of the proceedings, Beshte rushes up to his friends and reports that Janja has been spotted on a ledge overlooking a herd of zebras in the Pride Lands. The Lion Guard quickly takes chase. Kion and Kiara competitively take two separate routes through a patch of thorns. At sunset, the Pride Landers gather at Lake Matope to watch the mashindano. At the start of the episode, Janja and his cronies, Cheezi and Chungu, are chasing after a herd of oryx. However, Kion admits to his friends that he has considered staying at the Tree of Life to help Rani, since the Pride Lands should be safe from any threat. Kion trains with Askari to master the Roar of the Elders. Makini recalls having visited the river before with her parents, Fikiri and Kitendo, when they'd journeyed to the Tree of Life to present Makini to Rafiki. Fuli explains that Kifaru is causing damage all over the Pride Lands without Mwenzi, and Kion encourages Mwenzi to return to his duties. The Lion Guard is touched by his sorrow, and Kion resolves to find Mwenzi for Kifaru. Down below, Beshte starts to clear a path through the fallen rocks. The Lion Guard heaves rocks into the path of Kion's Roar in order to block up a dam. Kion stops Reirei from harming the herd, and Muhimu realizes that she had lost her son, Hamu, in the panic. The Lion Guard scares off Mapigano, who is bullying Badili. His fear intensifies after he receives a scar of his own and is poisoned by Ushari's venom. After the rescue, the Lion Guard takes a breather, and Kion goes to talk with his grandfather, Mufasa. Kion and Kiara work together to track down their mother, Nala. To this, Askari reminds him that the Tree of Life needs the Roar's protection as well. He relents, and the team settles down for a much-needed break. The Lion Guard overhears Zazu's singing and rushes to the rescue. Ono shouts that Kifaru doesn't know where he's going because he doesn't have his tickbird, and darts in front of the rhino, warning him to keep back. Ushari sneaks up on Kion and slashes his eye, giving him a scar and injecting him with venom. The force of Makucha's hit causes the rocks to break apart, and the river swells once more, filling Dhahabu's watering hole. Once again, Bunga tells Kion to use the Roar to solve the problem, but Kion insists that they use a different plan. Kion leads Boboka to her son, with whom she has a delighted reunion. The Lion Guard then gathers at the entrance of the pass, and when each elephant gets stuck, Mtoto sprays their foreheads with dust, clearing away the paint and effectively warding off the bees. Kiburi challenges Makuu about the poor situation, but Makuu insists that they must compromise with Simba in order to survive. However, he assures them that since Scar has been defeated before, they can do the same again. The two Lion Guards compete until they are tied, leaving only the competition between Kion and Vitani as both leaders of their respective Lion Guards. Chuluun fights him off and escapes. ", Simba tasks his son, Kion, with returning Hafifu and Majinuni to the Theluji Mountains. From the ground, Bunga works out how he can help Kulinda and Ono, and climbs a tree in order to reach the feuding birds. After a while, Bunga returns to the Lion Guard and gives Makini her staff back, after which the team moves on to find the next moja kwa moja stone. To their shock, Dhahabu calls off the deal and even forbids her own herd from using the watering hole. Later, Ono laments having caused Makuu's float to awaken early. Eventually, he leads them to the end of his tunnel and instructs them to take the main tunnel out into the Pride Lands. When the pair gets back to Pride Rock, they find Simba and Rafiki waiting for him. The leader of the Night Pride, Rani, condemns Kion and forbids him entry to the Tree of Life. She then encourages him by telling him that he has completed his first step in the path toward healing. Bewildered, Kifaru admits that he had wondered why there were so many trees on the path to Lake Matope. The pair takes Kion to the Lair of The Lion Guard and tells him about his destiny: He is the new leader of the Lion Guard and that the Roar he used is the Roar of the Elders. The Lion Guard finds Anga in a grove of trees, and she agrees to help them find the source of the fire sticks. Much to the Lion Guard's surprise, Raha and Starehe do not correct Dhahabu and instead let Tiifu and Zuri take the credit. Kion wonders if the souvenir is a problem, to which Sokwe replies that the snow ball is perfect. Bunga snacks on the flies, commenting that the team must really miss the zebras. Anga reports that she cannot find any white flowers, only a desert. Kion during a healing session with Nirmala. In the Lair of the Lion Guard, Makini and the Lion Guard discuss how Scar was defeated by Simba, which inspired the Kumbuka celebration. When the animals gather together, Kion and Rani explain that Beshte is friendly and did not mean to cause destruction. Kion scolds Anga for her failure. Kion worries over the herd's condition, but Ono reassures him that none of the antelope are injured. In answer, the Lion Guard drops hints to Dhahabu that she can be a good leader by fighting back, and Dhahabu quickly takes action, knocking over Makucha and kicking him into the dam. Rani expresses her doubts about becoming queen, and Kion admits that he had felt the same when he'd first become the leader of the Lion Guard. With his staff, he shows that the zebra herd hadn't been running toward the rocks, but away from them after they'd fallen. Nala (voiced by Moira Kelly in the films, Niketa Calame as a cub in The Lion King, Gabrielle Union in The Lion Guard, Beyoncé in the 2019 film, and Shahadi Wright Joseph as a cub in the 2019 film) is the daughter of Sarafina, the best friend and later mate of Simba; she is also Kiara and Kion's mother. The very thought of the genets spins him into a panic, and he takes off again into the forest. He orders his team to fan out, and once they have the underbrush surrounded, he yells for them to move in. The Lion Guard rushes to save the brothers, and Kion tackles the forest hog just before it can harm Hafifu and Majinuni. His fear increases to the point that he loses confidence in leading the Guard without his Roar. In a last ditch effort, Kion informs the antelope that there will be more food away from their drowned grazing ground, and a female antelope named Boboka urges Bupu to reconsider the offer. As to not cause further panic, Simba asks Kion and the Lion Guard not to let the Pridelanders to know of Scar's return. Ono adds that the Zimwi's "body" had been nothing more than a giant termite mound. However, when the five arrive at the scene, they find a little hyrax stuck in a thorn bush. With this news, Simba is forced to ask Kion to deliver the gorillas back home and find out what Sokwe's message is. Ono explains that the next landmark is a patch of four flowers in the shape of a diamond. Kion urges Makuu to be kinder to his fellow Pride Landers, but Makuu leaves in a huff and vows to only look out for his own float if trouble should arise. He then tasks Kion with watching over the event in case the other animals decide to treat Makuu unfairly. Kion frets that the Night Pride could be in danger, and the Lion Guard heads off to help defeat the unknown foe. Kion joins in with his family, Timon, Pumbaa, and the Lion Guard in singing "Hakuna Matata". Just then, Kion and the team hears Zazu squawking for help, and they follow the noise to where Rafiki is attempting to paint a portrait of the baboon leader and Mbeya, the leader of the rhinoceroses, who is sitting atop Zazu. Kion begs Ma Tembo to assist him in putting out a fire in Ndefu Grove. Kion and the rest of the Lion Guard agree to save Lumba-Lumba. Fuli leads the team in pursuit, but Makucha escapes by jumping across Big Ravine. Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to defeat Makuu. Kion apologizes for his rude behavior and promises to never growl at a clouded leopard again. Kion listens to Janja's explanation on how to defeat Scar. She then tells him that he should stay at the Tree of Life, surprising Kion. With the galagos riding on Beshte's back, the Lion Guard proceeds to the galagos' tree, where they see the leopard resting in its branches. He tries to leave in order to settle the situation, but Simba orders him to let Kion and the Lion Guard deal with the problem instead. The two Guards competes for the position and reach a tie. At the start of his training sessions, Badili struggles to act confidently, but over time, he learns to face his fears and be strong and swift. Anga spots a patch of Tuliza past a nearby sea. Pridelanders (formerly)Lion Guard (formerly)Night Pride Kion decides to use the Roar to defeat Vitani and her team, but is interrupted by Kiara's arrival. He offers Jasiri and her clan a place in the Pride Lands for protection, but she insists that they must protect their turf. After the talk, Kion returns to the herds with new energy, but they continue to gripe against him, refusing to trust him, until Muhimu speaks up and takes the blame for starting the stampede. Before Kion can answer, they are interrupted by the arrival of the Lion Guard, who are ready to return to the Pride Lands. When Kion gave up his position as leader of the Lion Guard to Vitani, his Lion Guard marking on his left shoulder vanished and replaced with the Night Pride marking on his right shoulder, Kion then gains a blue mark on his forehead symbolizing him as King of the Tree of Life and the mate of Queen Rani. He can be careless when it comes to games, as seen when he disrespects his father and sister during their morning lesson with his game of Baobab Ball. Kion and the Lion Guard watch from below as Ono and Kulinda attempt to rescue the baby hammerkop from Mpishi. After relating their stories to each other, they realize that Fuli may just want to be left alone, and they resolve to find her and promise to let her be herself from now on. Eventually, the Lion Guard and the Night Pride succeed in driving off the army, though Rani criticizes Kion for not following her lead. Kion and the Lion Guard encounter the spirit of Scar while searching for the cure to Simba's sting. Horrified, he realizes that the rocks are going to fall on the zebra herd, and so with the Lion Guard's help, he steers the zebras to safety, and the rock falls harmlessly to the earth. With the fight settled, Kion thanks Jasiri for her help before returning to Pride Rock and reuniting with his parents. This also caused Makini to constantly having to provide Kion with tuliza blossoms and quick to run out with Anga must always look for new ones. Simba instructs Kion to ask the zebras for permission to use the watering hole in exchange for whatever boon they desire. Kion asserts that the Lion Guard can help make this happen, to which Bunga excitedly begins listing all the creatures and items that they must gather in order to properly perform the song. When Kion arrives, he attempts to stop Kiburi from hurting the animals in the water hole, but Kiburi refuses and engages Kion in a fight. Dhahabu admits to Kion that she had noticed the water disappearing several days ago, but hadn't wanted to make her herd unhappy by sharing the bad news. The Roar of the Elders, also known as simply "the Roar", is an intensely powerful roar that is bestowed on the leader of the Lion Guard by the Great Kings of the Past. She then leads them into a chamber where there is a pool of water and yet another painting.
